LYNN-The walls of the former Lynn Plastics factory and the Nissen Bakery at 92-118-120 Brookline St. have begun to tumble down, making way for a luxurious new housing development in its place.Local developer David Potter said demolition for the project was slightly delayed, but is now back on schedule.?We had to get all of our ducks in a row and it took a long time to get the demolition permits,” he said. “But it?s a big project to demo all of the buildings, so it will probably be a two or three month-long process.”Potter previously said the massive project would consist of four separate buildings with parking tucked underneath the residences.Extravagant items such as heated towel racks and toilet seats, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, remote control fireplaces, Jacuzzi tubs and other lavish accessories are said to be included in the modest $170,000 to $200,000 price tag.The project will also include 30 percent green space and landscaping on the grounds to spruce up the neighborhood.Potter said while he had hoped to break ground on the project in June or July and lay the foundation down in August, he unfortunately hit a few snags along the way.?We?re moving right along though,” he said. “This is one of the biggest projects to happen in the city, it?s just huge.”
