LHAND salaries increasing steadily

LYNN – Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development (LHAND) salaries steadily increased in 2007, with two salaries reaching above the $100,000 mark, and four employees earning over $75,000.With 24 years under his belt working at LHAND, Executive Director Charles Gaeta topped the list, earning $146,788 in 2007, a difference of $2,656.09 from his salary in 2006.Norman Cole, director of planning and development, joined the six-figure club in 2007, earning $101,478.14, a difference of $2,904.64 from his salary in 2006.Paul Dejoie, former director of operations and management who left LHAND in February 2007 after 15 years of service, earned $97,231.07 in 2006.Sliding into Dejoie’s vacated position, Paul Gaudet, director of housing management, earned $76,856.54 in 2007, padding his bank account with an $11,992.59 pay increase over his salary in 2006.Joseph Scanlon, director of policy and finance, came in third overall with the highest paid salary at LHAND with $89,853.25 – $1,652.03 more than he earned in 2006.Margaret “Peggy” Phelps, development manager, took home $83,963.48, including a one-time payment of $18,057.11 for construction work over a three-year period on evenings and weekends at the Devlin and Waterworks sites reimbursed to LHAND.Phelps earned $62,153.28 in 2006.Authority salaries reflect longevity pay for years of service, overtime pay, if any, and sick leave buyback benefits.LHAND salaries are paid through the state and federal government.A total of four maintenance workers earned over $50,000, with the highest salary paid out to James Gately in the amount of $75,533.55, which includes $4,821.44 in overtime pay.
