LYNN – The Harrington Elementary School Auditorium was once again host to history Monday morning when students learned a “first-hand” account of the Revolutionary War from a member of John Glover’s regiment.Students listened to the history of the Revolutionary War and the start of the free country they know today from a former member of the regiment who called himself simply “Mr. Snitch.”Donning full Revolutionary attire and a replica musket, Mr. Snitch told the students of the heroics of George Washington and Major John Glover and detailed the guerrilla war strategy that helped the American army beat the British forces.Students were entertained by Mr. Snitch’s pirate-like vocabulary and the many quirks associated with a sailor, and took great interest in the character’s manually operated gun, which he demonstrated loading and carrying, but did not shoot because the noise would be too loud for the indoor setting.Mr. Snitch is the third historical figure to speak to students at the school, as actors playing Benjamin Franklin and Abraham Lincoln have also made appearances. All of the programs are in line with the school’s curriculum, as students are learning about that era of history along with reading biographies in the school library.
