SALEM – A Lynn man accused of stabbing another man in the back during a heated argument in July will remain in custody on $5,000 after a Superior Court judge Friday denied his request for a lower bail.Felix G. Rodriguez, 20, of 104 South Common St., #2, is facing a series of charges of assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in connection with his arrest for the July 22 early morning stabbing of another man during a heated fight.Rodriguez petitioned to Superior Court for a bail review of his $5,000 cash set by Lynn District Court Judge Stacy Fortes White.Assistant District Attorney Meg Morrissey told Lu that police responded to a stabbing incident outside 104 South Common St. at around 2:30 a.m.When they arrived, they found the 21-year-old victim had a puncture wound to his lower left back and was taken to Salem Hospital.A witness told authorities that the two men had been in a verbal argument, which turned physical on the sidewalk and when the victim went to leave, he was stabbed by a man known as “DR.”Both Rodriguez and the victim both live in the same multi-family apartment building which is operated by SPIN (Serving People in Need), Morrissey stated.A knife believed to be the weapon was located nearby by police.Rodriguez was found by police later on Shepard Street. He was identified by the witness.Defense lawyer Christopher Norris said the witness was friend of the victim and maybe was “bias.” He said his client has an aunt in Salem where he could stay pending the outcome of his case.He told Lu that the verbal argument between the two men was the result of “bullying” and behavior incidents in the house, that Rodriguez did not introduce the knife into the scene, as he asked the judge to set a more “appropriate” bail amount of $500, which Lu denied.Rodriguez is due back in Lynn District Court on Sept. 16.
