When the Saugus football team travels to Lynnfield Saturday (11 a.m. at the Middle School), it will represent a first.No … it?s not the first time the schools have met. But it?s the first time they?ve met as members of the same league. Sort of.Saugus joined the Cape Ann League this season, and its teams have been placed in the large division. Lynnfield is in the small.The Pioneers, winners last week over Newburyport (21-13), got touchdown runs from quarterback Dan Sullivan and Kyle McGah to go along with an 85-yard kick return from Matt Kramich.Saugus dropped a 20-6 decision to Winthrop in which Marcus Atkins caught a 25-yard pass from Justin Winn. Both teams made their 2013 debuts last week.Tech at Gr. LowellAt Gr. Lowell in Tyngsborough, the Tigers and Gryphons switched this season, with Tech going from the Commonwealth Conference/Large and Greater Lowell going the other way.The Gryphons fell, 39-12, to Lowell Catholic last week while Tech fell, 44-15, to Northeast. Two different passing combos scored for Tech. Connor Robertson hit Justin Lewis with the first one, and Vin Jahvon caught one from Rafy Lora for the second.Amherst-Pelham at St. Mary?sAt Manning Field (7), last week, the Spartans put up 64 against Swampscott. Two weeks ago, the Hurricanes gave up 60 to Westfield. Last week, the ?Canes did a little better, falling to East Longmeadow, 28-14.Last week in the Spartans? 64-39 win over Swampscott, Connor Sakowich, Jordan Manthorne and Abraham Toe combined for 580 yards and eight touchdowns and were responsible for 60 of St. Mary?s 64 points.
