LYNN — A female suspect remains at large after robbing the Santander Bank branch on Broadway of almost $3,000, Police Lt. Rick Donnelly said.

Donnelly said at around 11:24 a.m. Thursday, the suspect handed a teller a note saying that she wanted money and that she had a gun. The suspect then made a motion that suggested she was armed, he said.

The teller gave the suspect approximately $2,900, which also contained a dye pack, Donnelly said. The suspect then fled the bank.

A woman from a nearby condominium complex, who declined to give her name for this story, said she found a number of bills shortly after the robbery and brought them into the bank.

Donnelly said the woman found the bills — totaling $155 — in the rear of 408 Broadway.

As of 4 p.m. Thursday, Donnelly said approximately $1,700 had been recovered. Investigators found a significant amount in the back parking lot blowing toward the water of Flax Pond.

Some of the bills were covered in dye, and others were partially covered, Donnelly said. “It was obvious the dye pack had exploded,” he said.
