A report of an attempted scam at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday on Gerald Road. A caller received a check in the mail for $1,787.23 in advance for a job of going to stores and checking them for cleanliness and being a secret shopper. His instructions were to cash the check, keep $250 for his services and send back $1,517 via Western Union. He contacted the bank and found out that the check was no good. He was advised that it is a scam, not to have any contact and not to send any money.
