LYNN — Who goes to a cavernous parking garage with nearly $100,000 in small bills to buy a luxury car? That’s what a victim in a reported robbery told Lynn police.
Four officers responded to a report of a robbery just before 7 p.m. Thursday at the MBTA’s parking garage on Market Street. The victim reported being robbed of $90,000 during what was supposed to be the sale of a 2017 Mercedes-Benz.
Three male suspects fled in the Mercedes with the cash, according to the victim’s statement to police.
A search of the area did not find the suspects or the car. MBTA police were notified and took over the investigation.
Richard Sullivan, the T’s superintendent of police, declined to provide information on the incident. “We are not releasing any details so as not to jeopardize our investigation,” he wrote in an email.
