LYNN – It’s all about keeping your hoop skills sharp over the summer and having fun doing it.The Greater Lynn YMCA is offering a summer basketball program that caters to youth between the ages of 10 and 14, split into two divisions. The Lynn Y MCA Summer Hoops program begins Monday, July 17 and continues through Aug. 23, with 12 sessions. The Senior Division is for ages 13-14, while the Junior Division accommodates those from ages 10-12.”Lynn is a big basketball town,” said Lynn YMCA Branch Director Audrey Jimenez. “This will get the kids off the street and give them something affordable to do.”Class sizes will be limited. According to Jimenez, “Every player will get plenty of court time. They’ll go flat out five-on-five, with a referee. It’s not all skills and drills.” Winners will stay on to face the next five challengers.The Senior Division games are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-4:30 p.m. The Junior Division is 4:30-6 p.m. The program fee is $29 for YMCA members and $45 for non-members.
