LYNN-The Lynn Police Relief Association will hold its eighth-annual Lynn Police Officers Memorial Scholarship scramble format golf outing fundraiser on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at Gannon Golf Course in Lynn. The golf outing was created to honor and remember all the men and women who have dedicated their lives to the Lynn Police Department and the Lynn community. The proceeds from the event are used to award scholarships to Lynn high school seniors – one from each of the four schools – who will embark on a college education in criminal justice this fall. With your support, the fund was able to award $32,000 in scholarship money so far. Last year’s recipients were Allison Donovan from Lynn Classical, Samantha Boudreau from Lynn English, Kyle Beddia from St. Mary’s and Juana Ines Paulino from Lynn Tech.As a result of the overwhelming support and generosity, the Association has received from all the players and sponsors, it has also established the Capt. Richard Hogan Junior Golf Award. This award is used to purchase memberships at Gannon Golf Course for the youth of Lynn who participate in this program, in which Capt. Hogan volunteered many hours of his time. The Lynn Police Relief Association is asking businesses to participate by sponsoring a hole on the golf outing. A $100 contribution toward the scholarship fund is requested to sponsor a hole. Hole sponsors will be recognized with a marked placard on the tee area identifying their sponsorship. If you have any questions, contact any of the listed board members at 781-595-2000: Richard Carrow, President; Michael Kelter, Vice President; Edward Shinnick, Treasurer; and Tim Donovan, Paul Holey, Michael Eddows, Glen Dunnigan and Michael O’Connell. If you’re interested in sponsoring a hole, or just making a donation, please send a check in the amount of $100 payable to: Lynn Police Officers Memorial Scholarship Fund at 300 Washington St., Lynn, MA 01902.
