MARBLEHEAD – Police are investigating a bomb threat that led to the Sept. 28 evacuation of Marblehead High. Principal John Ziergiebel said Thursday night the investigation is “serious” and on-going.The 40-minute evacuation occurred after school staff discovered the bomb threat scrawled on a bathroom wall, investigated and found a locked but unassigned locker with a loud beeping sound coming from it.Principal Ziergiebel ordered students and staff to leave the building. Police and firefighters opened the locker and found a laptop computer inside. The beeping noise was due to a low battery.”Please be advised that it is a goal of the administration to investigate this situation thoroughly and discover who was responsible for the threat,” Superintendent of Schools Paul Dulac states on the Web site at www.marblehead.com.”The good news is all is back to normal and our emergency procedures and response were very effective,” he added.
