Day off Wednesday a surprise for some Lynn kids

October 8, 2007 by [email protected]

LYNN – All elementary and middle schools in Lynn will be closed this Wednesday, Oct. 10, for a professional teacher development day. There was some confusion related to this off day because it was left off of the school calendar listed on the district’s Web site. School principals should have sent home a letter about the off day with students Friday.High schools will be open Wednesday because of a different development schedule for high school teachers.Lynn English and Lynn Vocational and Technical Institute will close Tuesday, Nov. 6, election day, because those schools are used as polling places. This will act as a professional day for those teachers.Lynn Classical will remain open that day as well, with its professional development day scheduled for Friday, Oct. 19. None of these dates are listed on the district Web site as of Friday. In addition, the School Committee meeting scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 11 has been pushed up one day to Wed. Oct. 10 because of conflicting schedules for some committee members.Superintendent Nicholas Kostan is expected to give a presentation on the 2007 MCAS scores released last week at that meeting.
