Parenting expert to speak in Marblehead on Monday

MARBLEHEAD-Marblehead TeamUp, a non-profit, volunteer-run charitable group that sponsors programs for students, parents and educators, will present internationally renowned parenting expert and best-selling author Nancy Samalin Monday, Oct. 15, from 7-9 p.m. at the Marblehead Veterans School Performing Arts Center.Admission is $5. Pre-registration at www.TeamUpMarblehead.com or by phone at 781-631-3427 is encouraged.Samalin will discuss developing positive two-way communication with children of all ages, including limit setting, establishing effective rules and consequences, expressing anger without hurting or insulting, and other strategies featured in her book Loving Without Spoiling.Follow-up parent workshops produced by TeamUp and the Marblehead Counseling Center will be held during the week of Oct. 22 to offer parents additional, age-specific strategies and an opportunity to discuss parenting challenges in a small-group setting.
