The St. Mary’s High golf team followed up a league-clinching win earlier in the week with a 45 1/2-26 1/2 win over Saugus Thursday at Colonial Golf Course in Lynnfield.The Spartans (11-3) have enjoyed considerable success against the Sachems, posting five wins and two ties in their last seven meetings. John Baldwin and Jesse Powers each shot 37 in their matches. Ryan Fitzsimons had a 38 in a 5-4 win and Shaun Velez shot 39 in halving his match.Tom McPherson, George Carey and Kevin McCarthy each shot 40 as Carey and McCarthy won while McPherson halved his match. Anthony Cardillo shot 41 in a 7-2 win.M’head 44 1/2, Classical 27 1/2At Tedesco Country Club, the Rams (2-9) picked up two ties, Jeff Gaudet at No. 3 and Bobby Adams at four. Johnny Rodriguez also played well, losing his match at six, 4-5. Classical wraps up its season today at Gannon against English. Gaudet and Vinny Amenta will be representing the Rams at the Northeastern Conference Open next Tuesday at Tedesco Country Club.Danvers 227, Prep 231At Kernwood Country Club, the Eagles (8-3) ran into a very tough Danvers team and came up short despite having four players, Bryant Cote, Jon Lane, James Miller and Steve DiCarlo, all shoot 38. Dan Graves also played well for The Prep with a 39.”Danvers just played extremely well,” Prep coach Larry O’Neill said. “Two twenty-seven is a terrific team total ? We weren’t quite good enough today. This is the first time Danvers has beaten us in about 15 tries.”
