SWAMPSCOTT – Town Clerk Russ Patten has submitted his resignation, which is effective as of Oct. 26.Patten, who has been the town clerk for almost three years, said he has enjoyed his tenure in Town Hall.?It’s been a great experience,” he said.?The people in Town Hall and the people of Swampscott have been wonderful. I feel fortunate having had this experience.”Patten, who has accepted a sales position with an office sales technology company, said he is looking forward to his new job.?It was a very tough decision,” he said. “But I was offered a great opportunity and I decided to take it.”Selectman Marc Paster, who was on the Board of Selectmen when Patten was hired, said he has been an asset to town.?He has done an excellent job during his time with us,” he said. “He brought a new level of professionalism to the clerk’s office and for that I thank him.”
