Roundup: Big Blue field hockey team beats Revere

The Swampscott High field hockey team finally had its offense firing on all cylinders and the result was a 5-1 win over Revere Tuesday at Swampscott.Stephanie Lannon and Kristen Santanello each had two goals and two assists to take care of most of the scoring.”It took a while for the girls to figure out they can play like this,” Swampscott coach Holly Sheehan said. “Now they’re playing well.”Shelby Balleza added her first varsity goal.Marblehead 1, Danvers 1At Marblehead, Michelle Manley scored with two minutes left in regulation, assisted by Tori Snow, for the Magicians (8-2-3) .Beverly 1, Saugus 0At Saugus, the Sachems (8-3-5, 7-2-5 Northeastern Conference) had plenty of chances, but couldn’t crack the Beverly net. The Panthers scored 10 minutes in to the second half.Sophia DiPesa played well between the pipes for the Saugus.GOLFSt. Mary’s 193, Arl. Cath. 162At Arlington, the Spartans (13-4, 8-0 Catholic Central League) finished league play unscathed as John Baldwin, Kevin McCarthy, Tom McPherson, Shaun Velez and Daniel LeCroix all shot rounds of 40.BC High 247, St. John’s 256At Wollaston CC, the Eagles fell to 9-4, 5-3 in the Catholic Conference. BC High, didn’t have one of its better outings, but The Prep didn’t capitalize.Bryant Cote of Lynn shot a 40 for St. John’s and Mike Kasper, Nick Maccario and Corey Amirault checked in at 41).BOYS CROSS-COUNTRYFenwick 21, Arl. Cath. 58At Arlington, the Crusaders (5-1) swept the top three spots. John Surabian won the race in 18:19 with Billy Harrington taking second (18:20) and Colton Buckley, third (18:22).GIRLS CROSS-COUNTRYFenwick 22, Arl. Cath. 33At Arlington, Ali Trainor ran 21:21 to take the overall win as the Crusaders moved to 5-1. Ashley Banks came home second (21:44) and Joanna DeLorenzo was fifth (23:46).VOLLEYBALLPeabody 3, Stoneham 0At Stoneham, the Tanners (10-4) won 25-16, 25-13 and 25-11. Rachel Negri (8 kills) played well for Peabody along with Liz Walsh (5 kills) and Sam Lerner (14 straight service points). Kristyn Kelley was the defensive anchor.
