SALEM – A Lynn man, facing attempted murder and other charges in connection with the slashing of his former girlfriend and the stabbing of her new boyfriend in Marblehead two months ago, is being held at the Middleton Jail on no bail.Saul R. Hernandez, 30 of 3 Albany Terrace, appeared Wednesday for his arraignment in Salem Superior Court. He pled not guilty to armed assault with intent to murder, mayhem, as well as two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, attempted breaking and entering in the nighttime and two counts of resisting arrest.Assistant District Attorney Kate B. MacDougall filed a petition asking that Hernandez be held without bail pending trial because he poses a danger. Judge Howard J. Whitehead scheduled a Nov. 7 hearing. The charges stem from an Aug. 30-31 incident on Barnard Hawkes Court in Marblehead when Hernandez allegedly beat and slashed his 28-year-old former girlfriend in the face and then stabbed her new boyfriend in the chest when he came to her aid. Hernandez then put up a fight with Marblehead police when they arrived at the scene.Court appointed defense lawyer Julie Buszuwski is defending Hernandez.
