School Roundup: Troisi leads Saugus field hockey past Danvers

Gia Troisi had the hot hand for the Saugus High field hockey team, scoring three goals in a 4-0 win over Danvers Thursday at Danvers.Troisi, who now has 13 goals and an assist, scored in the first half from Jen Peczka and then popped in an unassisted goal early in the second half for a 2-0 Saugus lead. Peczka made it 3-0 and Troisi added one more for good measure.Saugus is 9-3-5 overall, 8-2-5 in the Northeastern Conference. The Sachems wrap up the regular season against Marblehead on Tuesday.Beverly 3, Swampscott 1At Beverly, Shelby Balleza is a recent addition to the varsity team and she’s wasting little time making some noise. Balleza scored a goal, her second since moving up, but it wasn’t enough against a tough Beverly team. Erin McLaughlin and Kristen Santanello also played well for Swampscott.Gloucester 4, Revere 0At Revere, the Patriots fell to 3-11-2 after getting in an early hole. Gloucester led 3-0 by the half.GOLFSalem 47, Beverly 25At Olde Salem Greens, the Witches wrapped up regular-season play with an 11-8-1 record, 7-3-1 in the Northeastern Conference. Beau Theriault won at No. 1, 5-4, and in the process became the only No. 1 in the conference to go undefeated (9-0-2). Salem also had wins from Wes Koen (7 1/2-1 1/2); Harry Noone, 5 1/2-3 1/2; Peter Cavallaro, 7-2; Dylan Cluckey, 6-3; Owen Grover, 6-3; Scott Sadoway, 5-4, and Mike Doherty, 5-4.VOLLEYBALLSt. Mary’s 3, Trinity 0At Conigliaro Gymnasium, the Spartans (15-0, 13-0 Catholic Central League) took another step toward a perfect record, winning 25-18, 25-18, 25-23. The final game was a thriller with Shannon Reddy, Amanda Smalley, Ashley Ranahan, Megan Hanlon and Vicki Pacewitz taking care of business. The Spartans are at Austin Prep today.
