Three-time Lynn felon pleads not guilty to gun charge

SALEM – A three-time convicted Lynn felon police say they caught with a gun and switch blade knife in a car this summer will remain free on $3,500 cash bail, despite the commonwealth?s objection.Julio Perez-Sanchez, 29, of 31 Wardwell Ave., pleaded not guilty Tuesday afternoon in Salem Superior Court to carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a dangerous weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm before Judge David A. Lowy. The judge agreed to set the same bail amount previously set during a bail review earlier in Superior Court and continued the case to Nov. 20.Assistant District Attorney A.J. Camelio argued that the bail be increased to $10,000, pointing out that Perez-Sanchez is a “three-time convicted felon.”It was about 10 p.m., on July 27 when a state trooper pulled over a vehicle on Route 128 in Lynnfield for a routine traffic violation. The officer learned the female driver?s license had been revoked and the car registration had been suspended.A gun was found underneath the back seat of the vehicle and a switch-blade was also seized from Perez-Sanchez.Perez-Sanchez apparently made implications to police that the gun was his.At the time of the incident, he was on probation for a drug case out of Salem District Court. He previously served a state prison term in 1997 out of Salem Superior Court and has other convictions out of Salem District Court.Defense lawyer Eric Tattano said his client has appeared for his arraignment maintaining the bail should stay at $3,500 while reminding the judge the bail is to ensure his return.
