Help for Abused Women and their Children (HAWC) is seeking donations of grocery store gift cards from Shaw’s or Market Basket to help needy North Shore families prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday.”HAWC will gladly accept donations of non-perishable food items as well, but our greatest client need at this time is for gift cards, which can easily be used by clients to purchase the food that they want for the holidays,” said HAWC spokesman Alicia Black.According to Black, HAWC will distribute the gift cards and/or food items to families who need the help during the upcoming holidays and winter months. Gift cards and non-perishable food items can be delivered or mailed to the HAWC office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. HAWC is located in the Shetland Office Park at 27 Congress Street, Suite 201 in Salem.HAWC provides emergency shelter and counseling services to victims of domestic violence and their children in 23 towns and cities across the North Shore. The services include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, and advocacy in courts, at police departments and healthcare settings.
