LYNN – A fire caused heavy damage to a house at 82 Timson St. when it broke out shortly before 4 p.m. Friday.According to Lynn District Fire Chief Thomas Swirka, the fire broke out in a second floor bedroom.No injuries were reported.Inside the home at the time was Analyn Valles, 27, and her nine-year-old daughter Kaitlyn, Swirka said. Both got out safely.Firefighters had cut holes in the roof to ventilate the large amount of smoke that filled the house.”I smelled something,” Valles said. “I got my kids out and called 911.”Kaitlyn and Valles’ three other children were planning to stay with an uncle Friday night, Valles said.”I don’t know how much damage there is,” Valles said. “Hopefully my stuff isn’t all destroyed.”In addition to the holes cut into the roof, firefighters were forced to smash several windows to ventilate the home.Swirka said a cause of the fire hasn’t been determined, but doesn’t think it was arson.Lynn Fire Engines 5 and 1 and Ladder 1 were used to respond to the fire.Police closed Timson Street between Empire Street and Brook Street were closed for nearly an hour as crews fought the fire.The fire is still under investigation.
