Broderick, Beranger win NEC South honors

Saugus High coach Mike Broderick took home Coach of the Year honors and Winthrop’s Chris Beranger was named Most Valuable Player in Northeastern Conference South football all-star voting.Bill Ryan, Swampscott High School, took home the Assistant Coach of the Year Award and Beverly High School received the Sportsmanship Award.The rest of the all-star team includes, at quarterback, senior Peter Kinchley, Swampscott, and junior Bret Reid, Saugus; running back, senior Greg Pierce, Beverly, and senior Joe McDermott, Winthrop; fullback, junior Michael Dean, Saugus; receiver, senior Vinny Eruzione, Winthrop, senior Sean Deady, Beverly, and junior Trevor Wheeler, Swampscott; tackle, senior Chris Gioiosa, Swampscott, and senior Dorsey Dobias, Swampscott; guard senior Liam Blodgett, Beverly, and senior Anthony Barasso, Saugus; center, senior Rob Hamilton,, Winthrop.Also, ends, junior Same Perlow, Marblehead, and senior Paul Sullivan, Saugus; tackle senior Brian Palangi, Swampscott; linebacker, junior Ilya Levin, Swampscott, senior Chris Martin, Danvers, senior Dave Patnaude, Beverly, and senior Tyler Trainor, Saugus; backs, senior Justin Mitchell, Swampscott, and senior Michael Sahgian, Marblehead.
