Matt Curtis, the Lynn English graduate who – as a junior – was named All-Ivy as a defensive tackle at Harvard, and has been named captain for the Crimson in 2008, will be among the speakes at the Daily Items 62nd annual All-Star Football Dinner.Curtis will be joined on the podium by Lynn English/Boston College graduate Peter Holey, who is a member of the Lynn Police Department; and Bill Adams, the longtime Lynnfield football coach, who stepped down from the position last month.The banquet will be held Monday, Dec. 10, at the Hilltop Steakhouse in Saugus, starting at 6:30.Curtis was The Item’s Bill Connell Student-Athlete of the Year award winner in 2004. He was a two-time Item all-star before moving onto Harvard, where he starred there.Curtis helped lead the Crimson to the Ivy League championship. They were undefeated in the league.Adams is a graduate of both Swampscott High and Holy Cross College. He played six seasons with the Buffalo Bills in the 1970s. O.J. Simpson was one of his teammates.Holey played on the Cotton Bowl team of 1984, along with all-Americans Doug Flutie and Tony Thurman.The dinner honors the 25 Item Football All-Stars, who will be announced in tomorrow’s Item.Tickets for the dinner can be purchased through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Item Building, 38 Exchange St., Lynn.
