LYNN-The Lynn English Hockey Cheerleading Team is going shopping for a good cause this holiday season, adopting a family of five as part of the Lazarus House’s Project Bethlehem Fundraiser. The team of 11 cheerleaders and two coaches donated to the charity for the second straight year, using their own money to go shopping for clothing and toys for their sponsored family. The charity provided the team with a wish list from the family, and they took to the malls this week to try and fulfill the family’s dreams. At a wrapping party Saturday afternoon in the English cafeteria, the team packed away all of the gifts and sent them to the charity so the family would have a happy Christmas morning.”All of the girls go out and do the shopping themselves with their own money,” said Coach Colleen Kern. “It is a nice thing for the girls to do around the holiday season beyond the scope of cheering. The girls get really excited about going out shopping and helping out the family at the same time.”Along with Kern, Coach Jennifer Dowling and cheerleaders Thyda Danh, Jada Drakes-Wiles, Sabrina Gerrit, Leah Hall, Michelle Melini, Jasmin Morillo, Chellsee Novack, Gricka Parker, Nicole Sanethong, Jackie Trapula and Hillary White all donated to the charity.
