LYNN – Lynn residents looking to donate used books to a good cause have two new drop-off locations in the city.Reading charity “Got Books?” has placed two drop-off donation and reuse containers in Lynn for residents, businesses, schools, libraries, and other groups looking to contribute books they no longer have a use for. The bins will also accept CDs, DVDs, videos and audio books. The Got Books donation containers are located at both St. Mary’s High School at 35 Tremont St. and at the General Electric Aviation visitor’s parking lot at 1100 Western Ave.Both containers are open to all Lynn residents and surrounding communities 24 hours a day.The container placed at St. Mary’s is in association with the Massachusetts Literacy Foundation and the Boston Herald In Education Program. The container placed at GE benefits the Fairy Godmother Project, a group that provides formal dresses and accessories for financially disadvantaged students in Massachusetts so that they can attend their school formals in style.Proceeds from the St. Mary’s container will also benefit the school’s newly constructed Connell Memorial Library.Donations made to each of these containers allow their respective programs to continue with a complimentary service.Got Books is dedicated to book reuse and keeping books out of the trash. The organization raises money for local charities and nonprofit groups by hosting weekly Charity Book Sales at their warehouse located at 35 Concord St. in North Reading.Book donations are collected through their free home pick-up service offered to residents, schools, and libraries and through books deposited at one of their 200 plus book-donation bins placed throughout New England.Got Books also offers a complimentary pick-up service throughout Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire.
