Was a league all-star ? Also was top runner for Eagles as a sophomore ? Ran 4:26 in the mile in his sophomore year ? Took 21st in EMass Division 1 meet ? Does track all year long.COACH OF THE YEARDOM FINELLISwampscottLed the Big Blue to third-place finish in the NEC behind Peabody and Gloucester with 6-2 mark ? Directed Big Blue to second-place finish in Division 4 EMass meet, after winning it all last year ? Took Swampscott to a seventh-place mark in the Division 2 Bay State meet ? began sixth season of coaching the Big Blue ? Also coached school’s girls cross country squad and boys outdoor track.The TeamSTEPHEN ARMSTRONG, Revere – Senior ? Team’s No. 1 runner ? Set course record of 16:23 ? Captain of Patriots ? Ran all four years and all three seasons ? Very hard worker and good student ? Always set a good example for teammates.JACKSON BARBER, Marblehead – Senior ? Team’s No. 1 runner by end of season ? Captain of squad ? Finished 16th in EMass Division 3 meet and 12th in league meet ? One of core members of team ? Also plays hockey and lacrosse.COLTON BUCKLEY, Bishop Fenwick – A junior, he finished undefeated in Catholic Central League, and was named Co-Performer of the Year with teammate Billy Harrington ? Peabody resident.JUSTIN CHIULLI, Saugus – A senior ? He had season-best time of 19:02 ? Was a four-year member of school’s cross country squad, and finished in the Top 10 of all his races ? Three-sport athlete ? Played for hockey team all four years.PAUL ESSERY, Saugus – Senior ? Finished with season-high 18:44 ? Three-sport athlete ? Finished each race under the 19-minute mark ? Member of school’s cross country team all four years ? Will captain Sachems hockey squad this winter.ALEX GOMES, Peabody – NEC all-star ? Finished 12th in Division 1, and 32nd in all-states ? Senior ? looking at UMass-Lowell, Keene State and Southern Maine.BILLY HARRINGTON, Bishop Fenwick – A freshman ? Undefeated in CCL, and named Co-Performer of Year with teammate Colton Buckley ? Was league champ ? Won the Freshman-Sophomore meet, and finished fifth in Bay State’s freshman meet ? Ran best time of 17:35 on home course ? Literally came out of nowhere for Crusaders ? Saugus resident.CHRIS HELLER, Swampscott – A senior ? Ran season-best 16:46, second-best time for the Big Blue in a dozen years ? Was a member of Swampscott’s winning team in the all-states last season, and second-place squad this season ? Placed eighth in Division 4 EMass meet ? Great student and tough competitor ? NEC all-star.DANNY INTERNICOLA, Saugus – A senior ? Top time of 18:56 ? Finished in Top 10 of every race ? Three-sport athlete ? Ran all four years ? Consistently finished under 19-minute mark per three-mile race ? Will captain Sachems hoop squad, and will go on to play collegiate sports.BRIAN KEIRAN, St. John’s Prep – A junior ? Was second runner for the Eagles ? Placed fourth in league championship meet ? 16:36 at Franklin Park his season-high ? Finished 28th in EMass Division 1 meet ? Set personal best of 4:56 last season as a sophomore in the spring ? Emerging as one of top 15 runners in state, according to coach Ray Carey ?
