Peabody man arrested trying to retrieve drugs in the mail

PEABODY-Through rain or sleet or snow?Well, not exactly.If your package contains illegal narcotics, chances are the parcel might not make the trip. And a Peabody man learned that lesson the hard way after he tried to receive a drug-laden package from Florida this week.Richard E. Duran, 20, of 119 Central St., was arrested Tuesday night after police carried out a search warrant at his home.”We received information from authorities in Florida that certain narcotics were going to be shipped to Peabody,” said Peabody Police Lt. Dennis Bonaiuto.Without getting into specifics, Bonaiuto said police searched Duran’s home at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and found drugs and weapons, including cocaine, Vicodin and marijuana.Duran was charged with possession of a class B drug (cocaine) with intent to distribute, possession of a class C drug (Vicodin), possession of a class D drug (marijuana), possession of a firearm without a license and resisting arrest.
