Swampscott – An attempted kidnapping of a 12-year-old girl took place around 2:30 p.m. Friday.According to police, the young child was walking home on Walker Street toward Paradise Road when a woman in a turquoise colored minivan with three bumper stickers on the rear of the vehicle approached the child and tried to lure her into the vehicle twice.Frightened by the situation, the child ran to a nearby home where neighbors called police.The suspect is described as approximately 40 years of age, with medium length reddish, tight curly hair, light brown skin and was wearing a red and white sweater.The victim said the suspect might speak with an accent.The car was last seen heading toward Rt. 1A North in the direction of Salem.Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
