LYNN-Crews repairing a water main break may affect traffic today at the intersection of Broad Street (Route 1A) and Spring Street. The large pipe burst on Saturday probably due to age and weather conditions, according to an employee of the Lynn Water and Sewer Commission. The break sent large streams of water flowing throughout area roads. It also caused rusty water to flow through pipes of several nearby buildings, including the offices of the Daily Item and a Dunkin’ Donuts on Exchange Street.Several roads around the accident were closed throughout the weekend as an LWSC crew worked to fix the pipe. Southbound traffic on Broad Street was detoured at Exchange Street and northbound traffic was detoured onto Union Street. Spring Street was also closed. It was unclear if the roads would be closed again on Monday morning, but the LWSC employee said to expect delays.Weather forecasts call for between one and three inches of snow by Monday morning, so give yourself extra time wherever you go.?
