MARBLEHEAD-A West Newbury man was hospitalized Monday after his car slid across Atlantic Avenue and crashed into a tree around 12:30 p.m., police said.John Sabo, 48, of Pierce Drive, was transported by ambulance to North Shore Medical Center for his injuries.Police said Sabo was driving his 1989 Toyota Corolla inbound on Atlantic Avenue when he crossed the double yellow line and struck the tree near the corner of Treat Road.The air bags were deployed, police said.Sabo was conscious when help arrived.It was unclear if the icy weather was a factor in the crash, police said.
