SAUGUS – Saugus police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a male and a female who robbed two different Eastern Bank tellers at the same time Saturday.Detective Frederick Forni said the call came in around 4:05 p.m. for a bank robbery at the 605 Route 1 South bank.”There was a male and a female suspect and they both hit a teller at the same time,” he said. “It was out of the norm, plus bank robbers are usually male, not female.”Forni said each suspect passed a note to their respective tellers asking for money in specific denominations.”One note made reference to a weapon but none was shown,” he said.Forni said the female suspect left first through the front door. He said she then ran around the neighboring Circuit City building and climbed into a green Caravan. The male suspect left shortly after and was picked up by the woman in the Caravan. Forni said from there, they jumped onto Route 1 South and were gone.Between the two, Forni said they made off with about $3,300.While they have yet to identify the suspects, Forni said surveillance captured some pretty clear pictures of the pair, but the male suspect was heavily disguised.Forni said the man was wearing a wool hat pulled down almost over his eyes, large sunglasses and a scarf covering his mouth and chin.”You really can only see his nose,” he said, adding police have a clearer image of the woman.According to Forni she is tall and either white or Hispanic. Witnesses reported she had very shiny black hair, which Forni said they suspect is a wig. She was also wearing large sunglasses.”But we think we might get a hit off the female,” he said. “You can see her more clearly.”Forni said he is working with the bank robbery investigation team to identify the pair, but is also hoping the public might help.Anyone with information on the robbery or who can identify either suspect can call Forni at 781-941-1181.
