LYNN – The holiday season can be especially difficult for many low-income families struggling to simply make ends meet. For single parents like Oliver, a disabled father to a 3-year-old girl named Hadley, spending money on frivolous gifts to put underneath the Christmas tree is just wishful thinking. As a full time college student at North Shore Community College, Oliver said he is struggling to get by while trying to improve his family’s current situation with a new career in business. However, after Oliver’s wife, Tiffany, passed away from complications due to cancer earlier this year, he said that he has been under constant stress to pay all of his bills on time.”If someone out there could assist me with some winter clothes for little Hadley, it would be highly appreciated,” he said. “Hopefully you can help me out so that we can bring a smile to my little girl’s face this year.”Between studying for classes and taking care of his daughter, Oliver said he hasn’t been able to save money for gifts to brighten his child’s holiday.”I wouldn’t usually ask for help, but I have been going through some financial problems and I don’t want Hadley to suffer because of it,” he said. “I want to give her a joyful Christmas that she otherwise might not have without the help of others.”To make a donation to Item Santa, clip the coupon in today’s Item or download one and mail it, along with your check, to The Item Salvation Army Santa, P.O.
