But judging by the final score, the final three quarters treated the Vikings pretty well.Dino Mallios and Jonathan Murdock’s 18 points led the way as the Vikings turned a 29-26 game at the half into a comfortable 58-44 win.”Swampscott shot the ball really well in the first half but our defense stepped up and did a great job,” Winthrop coach Dave Brown said.Gavin Mahoney’s 10 points gave Winthrop three players in double figures. The Crusaders also failed to convert on three chances to win the game in the final seconds.Nolan DiPanfilo led Fenwick with 26 points while Mike Clifford had a monster game with 22 points and 23 rebounds. Mark Price had 14 as well for Fenwick.Saugus 60, Gloucester 56At the Smith Field House in Gloucester, the Sachems (1-1) got a big road win as Ryan Anastos led all scorers with 24 points.”Any time we win at Gloucester, I’m happy,” Saugus coach Titus Manderson said. “It’s tough getting up there with the ride and they play you so tough there.”Giuliano DeGenova also had a good performance for Saugus, racking up a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.Marblehead 69, Danvers 31At Danvers, the Magicians (2-0) shot 60 percent from the floor and had 30 deflections on defense en route to the easy win.Damola Abu had 18 points to lead Marblehead’s attack. Pat Song added 15 and Tom Powers’ 10 gave the Magicians three players in double figures.St. John’s 72, Malden 64At Malden, the Eagles (1-1) got 27 points from Ryan O’Connell and 14 points from Andrew Knight in the win.The Prep led 20-10 after the first quarter and 35-26 at the half.
