Girls Hockey Roundup: Konaxis totals seven points as Beverly tops Gloucester

No, the box score to the Beverly-Gloucester girls hockey game is not a misprint, Rachel Konaxis recorded seven points last night in the Panthers’ 9-1 victory on the road.Konaxis scored one goal and then assisted on six others, including the final four of the game, to help The Conglomerate to their third win of the season.The beneficiaries of the evening were Taylor Cross and Courtney McTague, both of whom scored twice off Konaxis feeds.Not to be outdone, Claire Leathersich scored two goals and Kaitlyn DeSimone also netted two goals, one assisted by Konaxis and the other by McTague.Also for Beverly, Rebecca Powers recorded two assists and Brittany Russo added an assist of her own.Waltham 4, Marblehead 3At Waltham, the Headers started off sluggishly and it proved too much to overcome as they suffered a loss. Freshmen Britani Dunbar and Athina Simolaris scored their first goals for Marblehead (1-2), which got outshot 26-17.Masconomet 4, English 3At Topsfield, the Bulldogs fought to the end but came up one goal short. In the second period, Vanessa Caruccio scored for English on a Lindsay Barker and McKenzie Clark feed. Chelsea Bartlett also scored for the Bulldogs, with both Sarah Clewer and Adriana Russell recording assists.In the third period, the trio got together again for English (1-2), this time with Clewer potting the score and Bartlett and Russell doing the passing.Cambridge 4, Peabody 1At Cambridge, the young Tanners squad was again defeated, but not for lack of effort. The Falcons bookended the game with two scores in both the first and third periods, while the Tanners’ lone goal came in the third period.Kolby Amor scored on a pass from Jen McGill and Paige Sanseverino.
