SWAMPSCOTT-School Committee incumbents Daniel Yaeger and Shelly Sackett have announced they will not seek re-election this when their terms expire spring.Yaeger said his time on the School Committee has been a great learning experience and fulfilling, but he’s ready to move on to other ventures.?This was my first stab at politics and it has been a real pleasure to serve,” he said. “But I’ve served my time and paid my dues. It’s time to participate in the community in other ways.”Sackett, who is campaign manager for Lori Ehrlich in Ehrlich’s bid for state representative, said she hopes to become more involved in politics at the state level.Sackett said the town does not receive its fair share of Chapter 70 funding from the state and that is something that cannot be changed at the local level. Both Yaeger and Sackett said one the things they are most proud of during their tenure on the School Committee is the opening of the new high school.Yaeger said he believes during his time on the School Committee it has become more goal and vision orientated.?The School Committee reflects the mission of the schools,” he said. “I also believe we have increased our accountability.”Despite the fiscal difficulties the district is facing, Yaeger said he is encouraged because the budgeting process has started earlier and is more transparent.?There are no surprises,” he said. “The community knows what we are up against and where we stand.”
