The Classical boys track team got its first win of the season on Wednesday at Peabody with a 47-34 decision over Winthrop.The Rams (1-1) did not have any double winners, but used their depth and a sweep of the 1,000 to outlast the 0-2 Vikings.Sam Rios, Elvis Matos and Amadou Fatty did the honors of sweeping the 1,000. Also taking wins for Classical were Titenny Loeup in the 45 hurdles (7.1); Brian Kolodziej, 600 (1:35.6); Jeff Chavez, mile (5:56.0); and Rafael Villatoro, 2-mile (12:12.3). Yost all had two goals while John Curran, Jake Korthas and Steve DeRoche each had one goal.GIRLS BASKETBALLSwampscott 58, Alvirne (NH) 41At the Haverhill Tournament, the Big Blue (5-0) got outstanding performances from Tara Nimkar, Allie Beaulieu and Kara Gilberg in taking the easy win.Nimkar led Swampscott with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Beaulieu had 17 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists while Gilberg had 18 points and 11 rebounds.”Nimkar was just dominating inside and Allie and Kara also had great games,” Swampscott coach Jack Hughes said.
