December 27, 2007 by Robin Kaminski

REVERE – Three key suspects in the Sept. 29 shooting death of Revere Police Officer Daniel Talbot will be arraigned today at Suffolk County Superior Court in Boston.Robert Iacoviello, 20, Derek Lodie, 17, and James Heang, 17, all of Revere, were indicted Thursday on charges stemming from Talbot?s death.A fourth defendant, Gia Nagy, 17, also of Revere, is expected to be arraigned Jan. 8, 2008. She has been identified as Iacoviello?s girlfriendThe indictments were the result of an ongoing grand jury investigation into Talbot?s murder. To date, over 25 witnesses have testified before the grand jury.Iacoviello is facing first-degree murder charges and two firearm charges for his role in the incident. Police initially charged Iacoviello on Nov. 13 for firing the shot that struck Talbot in the head.He was previously held at the Nashua Street Jail from Oct. 1 up until his arrest on weapons charges and a probation violation unrelated to the Talbot investigation.Lodie is facing a charge of accessory to murder before the fact, while Heang and Nagy face charges of accessory to murder after the fact.Heang, who had been held in custody since Oct. 1 on a charge of possession of an illegal stun gun, was originally charged with being an accessory after the fact in Talbot?s murder and unlawfully carrying a firearm.Prosecutors said Nagy, who was arrested Dec. 14 on a warrant by the State Police Detective Bureau, attempted to destroy and hide the murder weapon and dropped pieces of the handgun into drains along Cushman Avenue. She pleaded not guilty to the charges. On the evening of Sept. 28 leading into the early morning hours of Sept. 29, prosecutors said Lodie exchanged heated words with Talbot, three other off-duty police officers and Talbot?s fiancée while the group socialized near the Revere High School bleachers around 2 a.m. on Sept. 29.Lodie then reportedly called several people including Iacoviello to meet him at the high school. After shooting Talbot, prosecutors said Iacoviello fled the scene and hid inside Nagy?s Eastern Avenue home.Several days after the shooting, police searched the homes of Iacoviello and Heang and arrested them on charges unrelated to Talbot?s murder.
