PEABODY – We’re only three days into the New Year, but if you’re starting to give up on keeping those resolutions, perhaps a class at the Peabody Institute Library is what you need to get you over that hurdle.Adult Services Director Kelley Rae Unger has put together a series of programs designed to help people keep their resolutions.”I thought it was a good time of year to do programs like this,” said Unger.Members of Beverly Hospital and the Center for Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine will guide each event, offering their advice and expertise on various topics.Nancy Davis, DTP of Beverly Hospital, will hold the first event on Friday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. Her lecture, titled “Beginning an Exercise Program,” will go over the ins and outs of fitting exercise into your daily routine. Davis will talk about the importance of starting a routine for those who don’t already have something in place, and more specifically how to start it safely.Marianne Quirk, a registered nurse with Beverly Hospital’s Lifestyle Management Institute, will hold the second event titled “Stop Smoking Now!” on Friday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. With the help of others from the Institute, Quirk will discuss various effective ways to make sure you kick the habit this year. And for those with a craving for junk food, or who just eat too much of a good thing, licensed dietician and nutritionist Marcia DiFronzo will hold “You Are What You Eat: Making Better Food Choices for Better Health” on Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m.”I think it should be a very helpful program for people who are interested in making life changes for the New Year,” said Unger. All programs are free and open to the public, but registration is required. For more information or to register, call 978-531-0100, ext.10, or log on to the library’s Web site at www.peabodylibrary.org.
