Roundup: NEC makes good showing at Auerbach meet

The Northeastern Conference was well represented at the girls Auerbach freshman sophomore meet.Lindsay Walsh of Swampscott had a sensational day with two top-10 performances. The Sophomore placed second in the 2 mile with a time of 11:48.02 and eighth in the high jump with a jump of 4-9.Jenny Fucillo of Winthrop placed third in the 55-hurdles with a time of 9:46.Saugus had a pair of top-10 performances as well: Lauren Atkins, third place, long jump (15-1); and Christina Bellia, shotput (25-81/4). Danvers’ Christina Kaczynski placed seventh in the 1,000 (3:23.33).Bianca Fowler highlighted the day for English. She placed 19th in the high jump (4-9) in the large school competition. English had four other participants: Cara Crowley, shot put (23-6); Alexandra Henry, 600, (2:08); Lindsay Roy, 600 (2:18); and Isamar Hodge, 300 (51.2).Swampscott had five other participants: Amelia Antrim, 13th, mile (5:50.17); Robin Herlihy, mile (5:04.71); Michaela Jancsy, 1,000 (3:57.56); Molly Heller, 1,000 (3:42.55); and Zoemina Warshafsky, 600 (2:03.33).Danvers had four other participants: Megan Taylor, 17th, high jump (4-7) and 600 (2:02.15); Courtney Godfrey, 16, mile (5:51.96); Maggie Ingraham, mile (6:21.42); and Marlene Christenson, shot put (24-41/4).GIRLS BASKETBALLFenwick 70, Waltham 54At Waltham, Amy Pelletier had her best game of her young scholastic career. The freshman came off of the bench to score a team-high 14 points, while playing for Bridget Dullea who fouled out of the game. Dullea scored 11 points prior to fouling out. Maddy Bissaillon also scored 11 for the Crusaders (4-4).Williams 55, St. Mary’s 32At Lynn, the Spartans ran into defending state champions. Amy Bozarjan led the team with nine points. Nicole Hamlin scored three points and added seven assists.WRESTLINGLynnfield 36, Melrose 35Ham-Wen 40, Lynnfield 33Wakefield 45, Lynnfield 33At Melrose, the Pioneers (9-4) had six double winners: Michael Doherty (103), CJ Vinuto (125), Ryan Viscante (130), Tino Acierno (140), Brad Cataldo (189), Jake Donaldson (285).GIRLS HOCKEYMarblehead 3, Masco 1At Marblehad,Tori Snow Scored a goal and added a pair of assists for the Headers (3-3-1). Kelsey Maguire and Katherine Homan had the other two goals.
