The Tech girls basketball team survived relentless Greater Lawrence team, winning 67-64 at Greater Lawrence.The Tigers started out strong, taking a 20-8 lead after the first quarter, but Greater Lawrence turned around and outscored Tech 20-7 in the second quarter to take a one-point lead at the half. The Grypons still led by a point at the end of three, but Tech had just enough down the stretch to pull out the win.”We were lucky to get out of there with the win,” Tech coach John Crowley said. “We were outhustled and outrebounded by a smaller team.”Jessica Underwood had 28 points for Lynn. Fanice Baptiste scored a career high 17 points and had seven steals, while Zulieka Lopez checked in with 16 points.English 70, Marblehead 30At Lynn, English’s Jenicia Duggins had a strong all-around game with 24 points, five steals and five assists. Classical was very tough from the free-throw line, sinking 18-of-22 (the best performance from the line this season) Gia Troisi had 10 points for the Sachems and Diana Davis had 12.Swampscott 51, Salem 37At Salem, Marissa Gambale only had three points for the Big Blue, but her five assists, five steals and four deflections was key in the win. Tara Nimkar (15 points), Ally Beaulieu (14 points) and Cara Gilberg (13 points) supplied the offense. Gilberg also had seven steals. Swampscott is 8-1.Fenwick 67, Austin Prep 42At Reading, the Crusaders (5-4) won their fourth game in a row. Four players hit double figures, making it tough on the defense. Bria Tiro had 15 points, Bridget Dullea (13 points), Amy Pelletier (11 points) and Maddy Bissaillon, 10 points.Lynnfield 59, Rockport 23At Lynnfield, the Pioneers (2-7) broke out of their rut with strong offensive performances by Jamie Harris (15 points), Diana Triffletti (10 points) and Abby Shove (9 points).
