MARBLEHEAD-The Marblehead Sail & Power Squadron will conduct a general boating course at Marblehead High School, 2 Humphrey St., beginning Feb. 13. The class will meet for five sessions, on Wednesdays from 7-9 p.m.A proctored exam has been developed by the United States Power Squadrons to meet the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) requirements for boater certification.Some states, such as New Hampshire and Connecticut, require this course for boaters seeking a boating operator’s license. Many marine insurance providers offer premium discounts to boat owners who have passed this course, according to organizer Ed Wolfe, a member of the Marblehead Sail and Power Squadron.The course covers introduction to boating, boating law, boat safety equipment, navigation, boating problems, and trailering, storing and protecting your boat.Registration and payment is required at least one week before the course begins.
