Lynn council assigns members to boards

LYNN – The City Council Committee appointments have been determined and finalized for the next two years by City Council President Tim Phelan.After speaking to the councilors individually, Phelan said he got a feeling for which committee each would like to serve on.”I figured out what each of them have done in the past and what they would like to do in the future,” he said. “I like to mix it up so I made some changes, but there are a lot of similarities as well.”Overall, Phelan said the City Council is a good mixture of energetic people.”Right now we’re in the process of getting the New Year started, but I do anticipate that we’ll have a good time working together over the next two years,” he said. “Everyone is relatively happy with their assignments and they will of course have the ability to sit in on different committees if they want to.”The Cable Access Committee will be chaired by Councilor -At-Large Judith Flanagan Kennedy and will also include Councilor -At-Large Paul Crowley, Ward 7 councilor Richard Ford, Ward 3 councilor Darren Cyr, and Ward 2 councilor William Trahant.The Capital Committee will be chaired by Crowley, with Ward 5 councilor Paula Mackin, Ward 1 councilor Wayne Lozzi, Ward 6 councilor Peter Capano, and Kennedy.The CBD Sign Advisory Committee will be chaired by Capano, with Mackin, Mayor Edward J. Clancy Jr.’s Chief of Staff Jamie Marsh, Crowley and Kennedy.The Economic Development Committee will be chaired by Crowley, with Councilor At-Large Daniel Cahill, Capano, Cyr, and Ford.The Education Committee will be chaired by Crowley, with Cahill, Mackin, Trahant, and Lozzi.The Finance Committee will be chaired by Mayor Edward J. Clancy Jr., Ward 4 Councilor Richard Colucci, and Mackin.The Housing Committee will be chaired by Ford, with Colucci, Trahant, Crowley, and Mackin.The License Committee will be chaired by Trahant, with Ford, Kennedy, Cyr, and Mackin.The Ordinance Committee will be chaired by Cyr, Ford, Lozzi, Cahill, and Capano.The Oversight Committee will be chaired by Cyr, with Kennedy, Trahant, Cahill, and Mackin.The Personnel Committee will be chaired by Ford, with Cahill, Trahant, Capano, and Lozzi.The Power Lines Committee will be chaired by City Council President Tim Phelan, with Kennedy, Cahill, Capano, and Lozzi.The Public Property Committee will be chaired by Colucci, with Ford, Trahant, Cahill, and Cyr.The Public Safety Committee will be chaired by Cyr, with Lozzi, Capano, Crowley, and Mackin.The Public Works Committee will be chaired by Lozzi, with Capano, Crowley, Trahant, and Kennedy.The Renewable Energy Committee will be chaired by Kennedy, with Capano, Crowley, Lozzi, and Cahill.The Rules Committee will be chaired by Ford, with Cyr, Colucci, Capano, and Cahill.The Site Plan Review Committee will be chaired by Cahill, with Kennedy, Capano, Mackin, and Cyr.The Veteran’s Youth & Elderly Committee will be chaired by Capano, with Cahill, Mackin, Kennedy, and Crowley.The Ways & Means Committee will be chaired by Lozzi, with Crowley, Ford, Trahant, and Kennedy.The Interview Sub-Committee will be chaired by Trahant, with Cyr, Mackin, Lozzi, and Ford.Ford will continue to serve on the Board of Directors for the Economic Development Industrial Corporation.Lozzi will serve on the Lynn Water & Sewer Commission.
