Salem State hoopsters work overtime

The Salem State College men’s and women’s basketball teams both went into overtime against Emmanuel College Thursday. The women pulled out an 81-78 win, but the men came up a point short, losing 90-89 in double overtime.In the women’s game, Lindsey Watkins led the team offensively with 24 points and seven rebounds. Danielle Jenkins and Michelle Gosselin both had double-doubles, with Jenkins scoring 18 points and pulling down 12 rebounds and Gosselin scoring 13 and picking up 11 rebounds. The Viking women are 9-3.In the men’s game, senior Marquis Victor led the Vikings with 27 points and senior guard Alex Finn checked in with 20. The men are also 9-3. Both teams open their Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference schedule Saturday against Fitchburg State College. The women play at 1 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m.
