MARBLEHEAD – Local residents will have two opportunities this week to catch up with the school construction plans put forth by the Facilities Master Plan Committee. The FMPC and School Committee will sponsor two community forums at Marblehead High Wednesday and Thursday. The first will be Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the high school auditorium. The second will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Marblehead High library. Each forum will feature a 20-minute slide presentation, followed by time for questions. The committee wants to update the community regarding the progress of Marblehead’s Glover School project with the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA).Last year, Marblehead submitted five Statements of Interest (SOIs) and a Facilities Master Plan report to the MSBA.In December, the Glover project was one of only 49 projects from across the state selected by the MSBA to move to the “Feasibility Phase” of the state program, where the state and town will discuss the project in detail. The town hopes to keep the project moving forward to qualify for state funding. These forums will provide an opportunity for interested community members to learn more about the MSBA process and ask questions. An update on the status and next steps for other school building repairs, such as the Marblehead Village School boilers and Gerry School roof, will also be discussed.
