MARBLEHEAD- Selectmen are scheduled to conduct at least two interviews for vacant seats on the Conservation Commission when they meet this evening.Brian LeClair appeared before the board to be re-interviewed for a vacancy on the commission Jan. 9. The board was scheduled to interview other candidates and vote on appointments tonight.Selectmen extended their deadline for prospective commission members so that interested people can find out first-hand what the commission does.Town Engineer Doug Saal informed selectmen in November that the commission was seeking individuals to fill vacant seats. The commission was anticipating two openings by Jan. 6.Two of the three are LeClair, a lawyer and former director and president of the Cambridge Civic Association, and Marblehead native Mark Brings, a contractor.LeClair and Brings were among the four applicants for seats on the Planning Board. They did not receive enough votes for election but selectmen urged them to consider applying for the commission.Brings has volunteered at the Coffin School and veterans’ groups and told the board he wants to see the town pull together, and LeClair moved to Marblehead after what he described as a life-changing experience aboard a New York shuttle flight the morning of Sept. 11.
