January 25, 2008 by dobrien

LYNN – Police are asking for your help in finding the man who tried to rob the Salem Five Bank Wednesday afternoon on State Street.Police say the suspect got spooked when the bank teller became upset after realizing his demand for cash. He passed a note to the teller at about 3 p.m. and fled the bank on foot without getting any money, police said.Witnesses told police the suspect was last seen walking toward the downtown area, but officers had no luck in finding him. Now, the Lynn Police Department hopes surveillance photos pictured here will help capture the attempted robber. The suspect was described as a white male, in his late 20s or early 30s and between 5-foot-10 and six feet tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a dark blue reversible “Adidas” running suit, which had white stripes running down the side of the outfit. The incident closed down the bank, which is located just off Market Street, for much of the afternoon. The FBI Bank Robbery Task Force and the Lynn Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division are continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is urged to call Lynn police at 781-595-2000.
