The Classical boys and the English girls track teams went home happy Thursday in the annual showdown between the rivals at Revere.In the boys meet, the Rams won 53-29 and in the girls meet, the tables were turned with English taking home a 51-35 win.The Classical boys garnered eight firsts led by double winner Sam Smith, who won the shot put (37-9); and the 600 (1:33.1). Chevere Archer won the high jump (4-11); Titenny Loeup, 50 hurdles (7.8); Jaquan Huston, 300 (38.1); Josh Horgan, 1,000 (3:06.7); Cristian Lopez, mile (6:06.8); and Rafael Villatoro, 2-mile (12:04). English’s Julio Arzu won the 50 (5.5); and the Bulldogs won the relay.In the girls meet, the Henry sisters did some serious damage for English with Alex Henry winning the 1,000 (3:18), Shawna Henry, the mile (7:09.5), and Jenna Henry the 2-mile (17:25). The Bulldogs also had firsts from Bianca Fowler in the high jump (4-5); Cara Crowley, shot put (26-0 1/2), and Ashley Keighley, the 600 (1:54.8). English also won the relay.The Rams had top finishes from Brittani Barrett in the 50 hurdles (9.2); Samara Faustin, 50 (6.3), and Karen Perez, 300 (43.1).BOYS TRACKPeabody 63, Revere 23At Revere, the Tanners swept the 300, led by Derek Gomes (35.9), and the 600, led by Jordan Hoofnagle (1:30.7). Peabody also had firsts from Michael Berlangieri, high jump (5-11); Nour Shahin, shot put (45-11); Joshua Band, 1,000; Alex Games, mile (5:00.9); and Keane Terenzoni, 2-mile (11:18). Revere had firsts from John Driscoll, 50 hurdles (6.6), and Paul DiPlatzi, 50 (5.8).GIRLS TRACKPeabody 67, Revere 18.3At Revere, the Tanners swept the shot put, the 50 hurdles and the 2-mile to win this one convincingly. Joanna Chanaj won the high jump (4-9); Kristen Surman, the shot put (29-7 1/2); Lindsey Elwell, 50 hurdles (8.3); Pinky Ratanajit, 50 (6.2); Andrea Saccardo, 600 (1:38.9); Brittney Creamer, 1,000 (3:01.1); Meghan Connors, mile (5:54.8); and Jenna Pickard, 2-mile (14:24.2). Revere’s only win came from Jamie Anderson in the 300 (42.4).BOYS BASKETBALLCambridge 59, Tech 40At Medford High School, Victor Smith had 23 points and Jake Canty 15 points, but Cambridge turned up the heat midway through the third quarter and proved too much to handle. Tech coach Marvin Avery said his team had trouble with the Cambridge press and got outrebounded in the second half. Tech is 5-5 with Northeast on tap for tonight.Salem 94, English 66At Tech, Cody Farris was a double winner for the Bulldogs (0-5). He took first in the 50 free (27.67) and in the 100 back (1:16.78). Will Segal won diving (153.15 points) and the 100 free (1:02.62) and freshman Lysandra Fiskatoris took third in the 200 free and the 500 free.WRESTLINGLynnfield 40, Triton 30At Byfield, Lynnfield improved to 13-7 with wins from Mike Doherty (103 pounds); Nick McGrath (119); C.J. Venuto (125); Ryan Visconti (130); Tino Acierno (140); Kevin Schwartz (146); Chris Klove 9171); Brad Cataldo (189) and Jake Donaldson (285). Lynnfield, which won nine of 14 weight classes, was only ahead 34-30 heading into the final match, but Schwartz put the match away with a pin at 146 pounds.
