Roundup: Andler leads Swampscott swimmers

Sam Andler was a double winner for the Swampscott High swim team in a 99-87 victory of Peabody Friday at the Peabody YMCA.Andler took firsts in the 200 free (2:06.98) and the 100 fly (1:02.56). Breegan Houlihan won the 100 backstroke (1:12.31) and swam the first leg of the winning 200 medley realy (2:03.82), which also included Stepan Gevorgyan, Andler and Melissa Brodie. Swampscott took first in the 200 free relay as well with Andler, Gevorgyan, Matt Barbuzzi and Gabe Venagas (1:46.54). Swampscott is 4-2.Peabody (2-5) had wins from Mike Diaz, 50 free (24.3) and 100 free (56.32); Katie Fitzgerald, 200 IM (2:32.61); Steve Maruzzi, diving (199.45); Brittani Atkinson, 500 free (5:55.92) and Remington, 100 breaststroke (1:20.68). Peabody also won the 400 free rleay (4:14.40), with Diaz, Maruzzi, Fitzgerald and Atkinson.Danvers 101, Salem 75At Salem State, Graham Bech won the 200 free and the 100 breaststroke (1:09.50) and Dan Crowley took firsts in the 50 free (26.1) and the 100 free (58.38) to help the Falcons remain perfect at 6-0.Also taking home firsts for Danvers were Maura Wilson, 200 free 92:19.44); Julianne Hopkins, 100 fly (1:11.25) and 100 back (1:09.63); Hannah Rice, 500 free (6:14.40); and Jody Bulger, diving (181). Danvers also won the 200 medley relay (2:01.07)GIRLS HOCKEYMarblehead 1,Masconomet 1At Gloucester, the Magicians (7-3-2) defeated Masco 3-1 the first time, but round 2 was a struggle. Tori Snow scored for Marblehead in the first period, but Masco tied it up with just under four minutes left in the game. Goalie Moe Bradley had another strong game for Marblehead, which was outshot, 27-11.GYMNASTICSNo. Andover 138.5,Marblehead 130.15At North Andover, the Magicians (3-4) Morgan Pickett won the all-around competition (35.8) thanks to wins on the balance beam (9.0) and vault (9.0) and the floor exercise (9.4). Cathy Noonan was second on the vault (8.75).
