LYNNFIELD-Lisa Shannon will resign from the Lynnfield School Committee a year early on April 13, the day before the Town holds its annual election.Shannon is currently serving her second year in her second term. She originally joined the committee in 2003 after being an avid public participant.?I was actually one of the few people who went to meetings and paid close attention,” said Shannon. “I was there all the time anyway, so it made sense to sit on the Committee and vote.”But with her booming career as a human resource consultant and her two children?s growing list of activities, Shannon said she just isn?t able to devote the time that the Committee needs.?I purposely submitted by resignation now so that the position could go on the ballot,” said Shannon. “It gives someone an opportunity to really think about if they want the position and plenty of time to prepare themselves.”The position placed on this year?s ballot will be for the remaining year from Shannon?s term, not the standard three.?I think it?s a nice idea for someone who might be interested but concerned about the commitment,” said Shannon. “I had a lot of opportunities to do a lot for Lynnfield. I think it?ll be good to have new energy and new ideas on the Committee.”Shannon advises her replacement to familiarize him or her self with the school system as much as they can and be clear on the job?s responsibilities.?Sometimes you think you can be able to do a bunch of things that don?t really fall within the Committee,” said Shannon. “If you go into the position really understanding what you can and can not do, it sets you up for success.”Shannon laughed when asked what she plans to do with her free time.?I don?t have any,” she quipped. “I?ll be consumed with all the things I couldn?t do (before).”However, she did say that she hopes to still attend some school meetings, if time permits.
