MARBLEHEAD – “Battle of the Blends,” an a capella concert collaboration between the Jewel Tones, Luminescence (both from Marblehead High) and the semi-pro group Custom Blend will rock the Marblehead High auditorium Friday night.Luminescence has completed three of the tracks on their new CD and will be offering a sneak preview. They will also be taking pre-orders of the CD at a discounted rate.The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and $7.Meanwhile, the Jewel Tones also appear on the 2008 Best of High School A Cappella (BOHSA) CD. The CD is an annual compilation produced by Varsity Vocals. (www.varsityvocals.com/bohsa)The Jewel Tones’ “Time After Time,” recorded for the 2007 album “The Jewel Tones: Tied Together,” features soloists Danielle Langelier and Jayne Wilhelm of the Class of 2007 and was arranged by music teacher Amanda Roeder.The BOHSA CD will be released this spring and distributed worldwide on iTunes and www.a-cappella.com. CDs will also be available at Marblehead High, where a portion of the sales will benefit the school music program. Copies of “The Jewel Tones: Tied Together” are available in the MHS Fine Arts Office.The Jewel Tones have been singing in Marblehead since 2003. Along with their sister group Luminescence, they perform regularly around the North Shore and have collaborated with high school, collegiate, and professional groups from around the country.
